In the latest Whatsapp beta for Android, Messenger brings two convenient innovations.
New features for Whatsapp.
Meta this week released a new version of Messenger Whatsapp through the Google Play Beta program. Version 220.127.116.11 for Android contains two innovations that could soon be included in the final version of Whatsapp.
Select multiple recipients for media
In the beta, Whatsapp shows a new view for captions. So far, Whatsapp users could not select different recipients when sending pictures or videos from a chat. This was only possible by sending the camera tab. That changes after the update. If users want to send a photo, video or GIF to a contact directly via their chat history, they can now select other people as recipients.
Define target group for status updates
With the update, Whatsapp is also redesigning the way users define the target group for their status updates. Previously, the audience could be changed when taking a photo from the Camera tab. Here Whatsapp showed the section “Privacy settings for status updates”. In the new Whatsapp version, the selection of the target group now also works if content was not recorded via the “Camera” tab. A new window allows selecting the audience to see the status update when publishing.
“Camera” tab should disappear
With the new beta, Whatsapp is preparing its messenger for future changes. For example, the “Camera” tab is to be replaced by the “Community” tab in the next few months. It is still unclear when the new features will be available to all users.
