In order to recover from a painful period of containment for the auto industry, the government has presented a support plan. This provides an ecological bonus of € 2,000 for plug-in hybrid vehicles. Attention, not everyone will be entitled to it!
The return of the ecological bonus for plug-in hybrids
Considered as clean vehicles, plug-in hybrids benefited in 2015 from an ecological bonus of 4,000 euros. The following year, the premium had dropped significantly to just 1,000 euros, before completely disappearing in 2018.
Something bad is good, however: the sad pandemic has spawned a support plan for the automotive industry, with the emergence of increased premiums and the return of the ecological bonus for plug-in hybrids. With some conditions, however.
Thus, natural and legal persons will be able to claim an ecological bonus of 2,000 euros for the purchase of a rechargeable hybrid vehicle of a value less than or equal to 50,000 euros, and whose electric range is greater than 50 km. on a WLTP cycle in force with the tax administration.
The opulence of premium cars does not promote autonomy or prices
Rather measured a few years ago, the offer is now rich and the technology is sufficiently developed to provide autonomy above the threshold set by the government. But you can already ignore all the proposals of the genre in the Audi catalog where all models offering a range of more than 50 km happily exceed the limit of 50,000 euros.
The BMW range is eligible for only a few models. This is particularly the case for the new BMW X2 xDrive25e. However, the price goes above the bar from the intermediate level of finish. In Stuttgart, the whole new range around the Mercedes A-Class comes into the picture with electric ranges ranging from 50 km to 65 km. It is even possible to select the high level AMG Line displayed at 43,549 euros (Class A250e) or 44,199 euros (CLA250e). On the French side, the call price of 55,400 euros automatically excludes the DS 7 Crossback e-Tense (58 km of WLTP autonomy).
In the shadow of the big groups, Opel and Skoda offer the best
The new government measure, on the other hand, is much more suitable for plug-in hybrid cars from generalist manufacturers, although the prices charged can sometimes flirt or exceed 50,000 euros. This is the case with the twin engine 300hp version of the Peugeot 3008 (51,450 euros). But the Opel Grandland X Hybrid4 is more affordable with a ticket set at 49,350 euros. In fact, it differs from its cousins only in a more classic presentation, while the mechanical performances are similar.
Within the Volkswagen group, the new hybrid systems can run 60 km in all-electric mode. But the price of the Volkswagen Golf GTE, Seat Leon Hybrid and Skoda Octavia iV is not yet known. Forget also the Passat GTE (50,820 euros), in favor of the Skoda Superb iV (44,000 euros), just as convincing as the German.
Choice novelties below 40,000 euros
This ecological bonus for plug-in hybrid vehicles demonstrates its interest with the least expensive vehicles, where it will represent a greater reduction rate. Offering 54 km of autonomy with the Peugeot 508 or 56 km with the 3008 (autonomy varies depending on the level of finish) the hybrid tandem of 225 hp is much more affordable with prices starting at 44,650 euros and 43,800 euros respectively.
This incentive also comes at the right time to focus on the two new features, the Renault Captur plug-in hybrid and the Ford Kuga PHEV. With a range of 50 km approved, the French crossover is available at a price of 37,200 euros in Initial Paris finish. What to hesitate with the hybrid SUV from Ford which claims 37,100 euros in Titanium finish for a similar autonomy but with the advantage of being much more livable.
Finally, we should not forget the Kia Niro PHEV which, with 58 km of autonomy and a price of 35,990 euros is very convincing. We will still regret the absence from this list of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, the best-selling plug-in hybrid in France in 2019, because of its 45 km range. However, in reality, it is close to 50 km.
The importance of recharging with a rechargeable hybrid
In addition to this financial assistance, the government plans to provide information on the benefit of recharging to each sale of a rechargeable hybrid, in order to encourage the use of 100% electric mode. Also, proposals for the installation of charging stations at home or on the company site will be made.
