When he comes towards you, he looks like many others: a Ducato as a partially integrated. But from the side the picture changes: Oops, who washed that too hot? Of course nobody. They build it exactly like that, the committed people at Wingamm, and they like to brush against the grain. Around 150 mobile homes per year are handcrafted at the gates of the northern Italian cultural city of Verona. The factory holds various patents, for example for the clever fold-down bed or the sturdy door hinges.

The Wingamm Oasi 540 is larger inside than outside
That’s him: One only 5.42 meter long semi-integrated with three beds, but actually ideal for a couple. With its dimensions, it does not get into a multi-storey car park and does not slip through any height restrictions, but any normal city parking lot is sufficient for it. What is immediately noticeable inside: How much space it offers – Hardly anyone in this length class imitates that. Its construction is also extraordinary: Wingamm builds Monocoque cabins made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP), extremely stable, tight, joint-free and safe – and this also with panel van dimensions. He has: In addition to the feeling of space it also offers plenty of space in practice. When sitting at the table or working in the kitchen, which they extended in the test car for an extra charge (1230 euros). The floor plan requires a far back entry, there is therefore no garage – but a practical, flat compartment across the rear.
Enough space: the oval table can be rotated and moved. A third bed is created here by converting the seating area.
Wingamm places the bathroom at the Oasi 540 in the left rear corner next to the wardrobe. It is functional, only the almost 20 centimeter high entry is annoying. Speaking of height: Because of the extremely stable, fold-down beds that can be easily swiveled down (197 x 134 centimeters) the headroom is scarce from a height of 1.80 meters. What the Oasi 540 also has is a confident price: The basic version costs just under 73,000 euros, the test car noted with various packages and extras another 20,000 euros over that. A Wingamm is nothing for bargain hunters, but manufacturers, dealers and customers know that: Anyone who opts for a Wingamm can afford this statement of discreet non-conformism and shows the few who can assess it that money is needed when choosing their own motorhome played a subordinate role.
The right partner for serpentine passes
The GRP monocoque provides excellent insulation, is stable and durable.
This is how he drives: Super handy, which is no wonder. Wingamm chose exactly three meters as the wheelbase, the At just 11.4 meters, the turning circle of the short mobile is on par with a 3-series BMW. Anyone who likes manageable cars for tours on winding passes or winding village streets will find the right partner in the Oasi 540, which is equipped with 140 hp diesel as standard, although the test car with its extras the three-ton mark is already empty. Thus, although it appears super compact, it does not turn out to be extraordinarily lightweight. In fact, it works too extremely stable: The furniture glued to the cabin additionally reinforces the structure. The Wingamm scores particularly well in winter. Except for the problem area of the driver’s cab, the GRP cab should clearly outperform any panel van of comparable length when it comes to cuddling: Fine heating channels are laminated into the base plate as standard.
