This week, Sony announced the Xperia 1 IV’s little brother, the Xperia 5 IV. The smartphone has a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels. A maximum frame rate of 120 Hz should ensure a smooth scrolling experience. Compared to its predecessor, the display should also be around 50 percent brighter.
Jack connection on board
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen1 and twelve gigabytes of RAM work in the housing with the dimensions 156 x 67 x 8.2 millimeters. The internal memory is quite generous at 128 gigabytes. If you need more, you can expand the smartphone with a memory card. Sony does not place the fingerprint sensor in the display, but on the side of the power switch. Rather unusual for current smartphone models, Sony even gives the Xperia 5 IV a jack for headphones. Thanks to the iP68 certification, the device is protected against dust and water.

Triple camera with optical image stabilizer
When it comes to features, the main focus of the Xperia 5 IV is on the cameras. The front camera and the three rear lenses each have a resolution of twelve megapixels. On the back are the main camera with a wide-angle lens, a telephoto camera and a super wide-angle lens. Both the telephoto and the main camera should ensure shake-free photos and videos with an optical image stabilizer. All cameras also offer eye autofocus, which detects both people and pets.
Available from mid-September
The built-in battery has a nominal charge of 5,000 mAh. In contrast to the predecessor Xperia 5 III, the new model can also be charged wirelessly. The release of the Xperia 5 IV is planned for mid-September. Then the smartphone will appear in Germany at a price of 1,049 euros.
