Good news for everyone who sometimes hangs on YouTube for a bit too long and therefore occasionally has too little sleep. There will be a reminder that you can set on the hour you have to go to sleep.
“Now that many of us are at home, it is sometimes extra difficult to stick to your routine. However, it is more important than ever to set limits to control how much time you spend online, ”writes Google in its blog post announcing YouTube’s new feature.
That new function is called “bedtime reminder“And does exactly that. You can set specific hours with it when you want to get a reminder that it’s time to stop watching videos and go to sleep.
How does it work?
Google has started rolling out the new feature worldwide today, but warns that it may take a few days for everyone to get the update. If that happened to you, just click on the setting in the YouTube application and on “Remind me when it’s time to go to bed”. You can also go there by clicking on your profile picture and then on “Watch time”.
There you can choose an hour to receive a notification. You can also choose whether that message can interrupt your video, or only be shown after a video has been made. If YouTube sends you a reminder, you can of course still choose to ignore it. You can also snooze the message if you want to keep looking at something.
In recent years, YouTube has already introduced several other functions that should help you with your “digital well-being”. For example, as mentioned above, you can see how long you spend on YouTube every day in your settings via “Watch time”.
You can also set when you want to take a break: every 15, 30, 60, 90 or 180 minutes. If it is on, you will be notified at that time that it is time for a break.
