After the last safety car phase, Vettel used the tire advantage “to overtake Schumacher and Ocon,” said Krack. “He was in ninth place, which would have meant valuable championship points. Unfortunately, Seb then dropped out through no fault of his own when he met the overzealous Schumacher.”

Aston Martin also made mistakes at the GP in Miami. Krack admits, “Before the race we had a fuel temperature issue that delayed our cars exiting the pits. This meant that both drivers had to start the race from the pit lane.”

While Vettel was taken out of the race after Schumacher had successfully caught up, Lance Stroll ended up in eleventh place.
In the World Championship, Aston Martin is penultimate with six points. Only Williams (three points) is even worse. Vettel is 14th (four points from Imola), his teammate Lance Stroll is 17th (two points).
