The convoy passed various sights such as Alexanderplatz, the Brandenburg Gate, the Victory Column and Potsdamer Platz and caused astonishment among many passers-by.
“It’s really something very special to drive a racing car on public roads and pass such famous sights,” says De Silvestro. “It was also great to experience how enthusiastic the passers-by reacted to the vehicle when we stopped at the Brandenburg Gate. I had great fun!”
Formula E is racing through Berlin again this weekend!
With the double header at the airport in Tempelhof next weekend, May 14th and 15th, the Formula E season is approaching halftime. The seventh race of the season on Saturday will be run counter-clockwise on the usual configuration of the track, with the eighth race on Sunday going clockwise.
Before the Berlin E-Prix, Mercedes EQ driver Stoffel Vandoorne leads the drivers’ standings. In the team classification, Mercedes-EQ is also at the top before the two home races on German soil.
His team-mate Pascal Wehrlein (ranked seventh in the World Championship) is still looking back at Monaco with tears in his eyes, where he dropped out while in the lead with a technical problem. “The competition in Formula E is extreme, you can’t win every weekend,” he admits. “We showed a very strong performance in Mexico and at least a podium would have been possible in Monaco, maybe even a win. Everything was fine there. The car felt great up until the retirement, we had the right strategy and our changes to the setup were also good. If that’s the case in Berlin, then we have the best chance of our second win of the season.”
Maximilian Günther finally wants to finish in the points again with his Nissan.
